Taking a note from Rear Window

Stella's poignant words in Rear Window, "What people ought to do is get outside their own house and look in for a change," echo our philosophy at Mirth and Joy.

We believe social media should serve as a platform for inspiration, education, and meaningful connections. Let's not turn into a world of digital peeping toms (a digital courtyard of sorts if you have seen the film)! We aim to foster a space that prompts people to reflect on their values, take action, and engage with their communities.

Working closely with communities, small businesses, and non-profits, our goal is to create content that goes beyond mere entertainment. We want to inspire positive change, promote awareness, and build connections that contribute to the betterment of individuals and the communities they belong to. Social media, in our vision, becomes a tool for empowerment, encouraging people to look beyond the ordinary and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

My inspiration for this post comes from recently seeing Rear Window on the big screen in 35mm at the Barrymore Film Center, a venue I'm now proud to be a member of. I encourage folks in the area to check out their upcoming schedule! If you enjoy the classics, and immersing yourself in culture, this is a great place to do so. And it is a wonderful evening out in this chillier months with fantastic local restaurants in walking distance!
