Why use professional social media management?
As a local government official it’s your job to make your town a better place to live in, work in, and visit.
The most effective way to connect with residents is to go where they spend their time: social media. A professional, managed social media account bursting with local news, information, and announcements has the power get people off their phones and outside their homes, volunteering, connecting, voting, working, shopping, and contributing to the local community.
SMALL TOWN SOCIAL MEDIA CASE STUDY
In 2022, Mirth & Joy carried out an experiment…
Community engagement in the Village of Ridgefield Park, NJ, was waning. Events were run by volunteers nearing burnout, with no one ready to step up.
At the same time, the town’s social media accounts were unpolished and lacking followers and engagement. Newcomers to the town didn’t know what was going on. Opportunities to get residents involved were being missed.
We decided to carry out an experiment that would transform the town for good.
Within ten days of launching a new Instagram account for Ridgefield Park, we had double the number of followers on the town’s original account.
